This reminds me of the women who cheerfully say, “oh, I’ll give up smoking/ getting drunk /eat healthy food when I’m pregnant”, not realising that most women don’t know they’re pregnant until they’ve missed a period or two and the critical fetus development times are the first three months.

Yeah, that’s like me worrying about the sound of the blender affecting the baby as I whip up another batch of margaritas.

Then again, I’m already in a pissy mood about pregnant women abusing their bodies after finding out my brother’s pregnant girlfriend is *still* getting drunk. Not to mention the fact that she’s only 19, so technically shouldn’t be drinking, PERIOD.

I’ve seen that before & it’s totally absurd! I just don’t understand how a woman could chance her unborn baby’s life just to continue a BAD habit!!

I worked w/a lady while I was pregnant w/Kendall who found out she was pregnant & she continued smoking the ENTIRE time she was pregnant. We all told her she should stop until the baby was born but she didn’t listen. Thankfully her daughter was born healthy but that’s just a chance I wouldn’t take.

Ignorant people. They’re the worst. How is it that so many people have no common sense these days? It baffles me.

Oh my goodness! Yes, I’m sure the muffled sound of jackhammers will mess that baby up good. Never mind the smoking and god knows what else you’re putting in your body! The asthma, low birth weight, and premature delivery can all be traced back to the jackhammers!

Oh god, there should be a quiz before you’re allowed to reproduce!

This once again proves that while you need a license or a title to drive, teach or build something, anybody can be a parent.

How sickening.

I once told my wife I knew when she was going to stop smoking. “When?”, she asked. “The day you either say you want to have children or I find out you’re pregnant”.

For once, I was true to my word (of course I know the credit goes all to her!). She never smoked again.

I’m speechless.

I smoked my entire pregnancy with Isobel. I went from over a pack a day to 5 maximum, until the week my father died, then I went back up to half a pack.

I have little valid excuse other than the fact that it was a very high risk pregnancy and quitting would have created more stress on her during a period when I was already withdrawing from psych meds. It was doctor approved for a time…

And then I continued.

Please direct pitchforks directly towards my ass, avoid the face.

At the very least, I would hope you wouldn’t have allowed yourself to be photographed smoking while pregnant and worried about the effects of loud sounds, of all things, on the fetus. That is the height of the moronic vibe in that photograph.

Clearly, I do think it’s unwise for the majority of pregnant women to smoke, because of the risk posed to the unborn child. Thing is, I also don’t take chances with alcohol, even though many women feel it’s just fine to drink a bit. I don’t even touch caffeine for the entire first trimester, and rarely have it after that. I am highly paranoid about doing anything to harm the life within.

That being said, what happened in the past is that. No one’s perfect. Isobel is loved and cared for by you every day, and I know you only want the best for her. That’s what’s important today.

If you’re still smoking, of course it’s your choice, but I’m also sure you know it’s in her best interest for you to quit. For lots of reasons. That’s my “Momma Says” Finger Waggin’ comment for now.

Oh, and I might poke you in the ass with a fork a little, because I don’t own a pitchfork.

We actually get this paper (we live about an hour away from Roanoke). I remember when it came out. My husband and I were outraged! Today, I was at the gyno getting me yearly pap and I saw a pregnant woman sitting outside smoking. UGH!
