Car tantrums – the gift that keeps giving.

So nice to be home
but soon we will leave again -
holiday travel!

I feel like I need
a good trip to a Spa to
get over last trip.

Anyone want to
buy me a massage, facial?
I didn’t think so.

Getting to spend time
with family is worth it…
but DAMN, the drive sucks.

Was thinking of a
larger family car soon…
growing family.

But now I’m thinking
a cab with divider glass
is the way to go.

At least I can buy
a set of earplugs before
we leave this next time.

And maybe also
a large bottle of some nice,
groovy, sleeping pills. ;-)

So many emotions touch our hearts like a hand touch the strings! But I’m sure that tantrums in the car made your stronger though it was hard time:)

Let me know when you find that car with the divider glass, the only ones I’ve seen are the police cruisers we use! (I’d prefer my kids stay out of the back of those!)

I feel ya sister! We made that 8 hour drive for the first time with Garrett this Thanksgiving. After a while, you just run out of ways to entertain a baby!! The crazy part is we are going to turn around and do it again for Christmas. We plan to leave at bedtime so he will hopefully sleep the whole way!

Do you think in Haiku? Cause it just seems to flow out of you like snot out of 2yo’s nose.

See, I can write poetry, too.

Amen to the divider glass….and the sleeping pills. Why haven’t any of these car company’s added these features yet? That’ll get you a bailout!

Haha! We’ve already started pointing out police cruisers to Braden on the road, telling him the police are coming to get him because he was throwing a tantrum.

And in the middle of a particularly bad one? I might just hand him over GLADLY.

    Lotus:)

    Angie,

That’s what we did the first time we drove a long way with Braden! It was summer before this last one… he was about 9 months old. I couldn’t imagine trying to keep him entertained for 11 hours! So we left around his bedtime and drove ALL NIGHT. We did it there and back. It worked… but it also sucked ASS to be up all day packing and then up all night driving!

Everyone says to sedate the kids… but this time, I’ll just betray my husband and sedate myself.

I’ll probably wake up just as he’s wrecking the car. Hah.

    Ashley @ mrs007.net,

Yeah, for reals! They need to have a Mom Package (Or Parent Package) at car dealerships.

Comes with top-of-the-line child car sets, DVD player, Benadryl on tap, SOUND PROOFED divider glass, and cheerio dispenser in ceiling.

Automatic diaper changing robot activated by request.

Foot massager in front driver and passenger standard.

    Oh yeah, baby,

    Lotus:)

A cab with dividing glass–that line is hilarious. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wanted that when traveling with my boys. Have a good trip!

We drove 18 hours with both kids from NH to Charleston, SC. Twice.

A DVD player is key. If you can, try to do the bulk of driving over night. It’s harder on the parents, but much easier on the kids.

We upgraded to a mini-van when I was pregnant with my second. I hated the thought of it, but now that my kids are 6 and 3, I got over myself and I <3 it.

UGH!! I did the trip to SC yesterday with the teen and toddler. I think I’m going to steal your ku’s for the day because every single one of them is how I feel right now.

    Drink anyone?

    Tara,

We actually have a travel DVD player – problem is he just wants to push all the buttons and abuse it, then get mad and scream when it’s not working as he wishes for it to.

If I put it out of his reach (difficult in our small vehicle) he’s okay for awhile, but eventually he’s sick of that, too.

    Little brat! ;-)

Great haiku, very amusing! Car rides can be either really good (sleeping toddler) or really bad (cranky toddler).
