chocolate happiness
His very first cone of ice cream to eat all on his own was a waffle cone bigger than his head. He loved it deeply.
It loved him back. They became one in a melty explosion of chocolate toddler happiness.
You just can’t stand in the way of a love so deep (and sticky) as this – you just put it outside, watch the sweet carnage unfold, laugh and take lots of photos.
Mark it down on the list of fun stuff I’ll miss witnessing one day.

Ah, our sons are so alike! Cory had his first ice cream cone this week too! Unfortunately I’m a bad mom and didn’t bring the camera so I have a couple of lame photos taken with my cell phone. But better than nothing, and I have the memories in my head!
(He decided that eating the bottom off the cone would be a good idea first…

And then you hose them off before going inside. I have done that!

Oh, rightly so. Brilliance.

OMG…I can’t wait until the twins like ice cream enough to do something like this! Husband will break out into hives, but I’m going to enjoy watching each and every drop (and then breaking out the hose so that none of that sticky goodness makes its way into my house)!!!

I was just going to write about hosing him off, but someone beat me to it.
Are you saying I shouldn’t eat my ice cream like this because I’m in my 30s? Crap.

I eat ice cream the same way–not quite as cute when I do it.
Nice capture of a simple moment…

What a spectacular mess! So, tell me, did you strip him naked and hose him off before you let him back in the house?

Watching a kid eat a giant chocolate ice cream cone is seriously one of the great joys in life. Plus, it’s awesome because if you’re in public it totally makes other people smile and laugh as they walk by. Spread the joy!

Sometimes, you just have to step back and let it happen, but make sure to take pictures.

HAHA it seems that your kid is really bad at eating chocolates. Take care because in the end you have to clean up the mess.
