Things I learned this week:
- Sometimes “Mommy” is much more capable of diagnosing and treating her kid than is “Dr.”
- There are some of you who find it HIGHLY DISGUSTING that I saved Braden’s Baby Jerky. But for some reason, hair seems acceptable to save. ?
- Young children are capable of breaking the sound barrier with nothing more than their very own lungs and vocal chords. And it hurts. Ohh, maaaan, it hurrrrrts.
- You could win free shoes over here.
- Sometimes it’s probably just best to keep your mouth shut. But it’s hard.
- Braden can finally say, “fan” instead of calling it, “esh-wheat,” which comes out sounding a lot like “oh shit.”
- But he still says, “cock” when he’s not sure if something is a “car” or a “truck.”
- I am going to be a panelist at Blissdom ‘08!

- My husband is a good xylophone player. (And Braden’s not half bad on drums.)
- My heels won’t stop drying out all disgustingly, and they have forced me to use a “foot rasp” on them.
- A foot rasp looks like a cheese grater. Using it on your feet is WEIRD. I feel like I’m about to garnish some type of weird shower tacos with my feet.
- Time just keeps moving on. Often much faster than you’d like.
- Braden is still amazing.

1. So true. I used to say, just give me the prescription pad and we can cut the dr. right out of this picture.
3. What, you don’t like that throbbing, vibrational pain?
6 & 7. *snort*
11. I’ve never heard of a foot rasp, but those ped eggs gross me out.

And yet again you make me smile!
And, yes, I too believe that there should be a “degree” for moms and our amazing abilities to know more about our kids than anyone else….even the “Dr.”
Pst…I gave you an award!

I, for one, think it is disgusting that you keep the “jerky” and the hair. I couldn’t even finish that last post. But, I am not a mother, and mother’s don’t think the vomit or the poop or the drool is gross, either, so I feel like it’s hard for me to judge too harshly. Moms are weird about things; that’s what makes them moms.

Lotus, you are a truly amazing woman. John is so lucky – and Braden. Braden is truly fortunate to have you as his Mom. I am so glad I have come to know something of you in the last 9 or 10 months – I forget just what it is. Really glad.
Just had to get serious for once.

NGS,
Yeah, I kind of figured some ppl would understand and some would think it’s gross. It’s not as gross as you might think – the actual thing, I mean. It’s nothing more than leather.
Do you wear leather, by chance, like shoes and such? Some ppl don’t wear it, either… but, of course… it’s just dried animal skin.
At least this piece of leather is related to me! Hahaha!

I can’t believe I’m admitting this to someone I’ve never “met” before, but I have the foot thing, too. Though, I think maybe yours is slightly worse than mine (is that POSSIBLE??!), as I can get away with a pumice stone. The rasp/cheese grator sounds serious. Do you need a prescription for that?
I jest.

Tatiana,
Thanks! I’ve been blown away by him. He’s been doing the letters (and his colors) for some time now, the numbers just this past month. He’s 23 months old – he’ll be 2 years on Oct. 16th. Definitely the stereotypical proud mommy here!

I was freakin’ excited with my almost-four-year-old could identify all his letters and numbers. Way to be smart AND good looking, Braden!
(And he and your hubby should take that show in the road!)

I knew a child who couldn’t say truck would say f**k every time, so his dad taught him to say eighteen wheeler instead.
You’re following the foot filing with a warm soak and a good dollop of some rich moisturising cream I hope?

Braden is a genius! Once again, we need to get Braden and Sophie together! Letters are her fave thing in the world. She carries our magnetic letters around all day and also brings me the Magnadoodle demanding that I write letters for her to name!
Braden + Sophie = Scrabble soulmates!

My kid can’t say “fan,” either. He totally calls it “bah.” Though, I admit, “bah” is a multi-use word that applies to anything he can’t pronounce. Like fish? That’s “bah.”
*sigh*
