Braden likes to pull his cute, little, bare feet up on the table during dinner and say, “fits!” He is very proud that he is correctly naming them and getting away with putting his feet on the table all at the same time. I try to be hardcore and not smile and coo at how cute he is.
“Yes, those are your feet. Now put your feet down, Braden. No feet on the table.”
Last week, I put his shoes on him so we could go run errands. “Shoose!” he exclaims, when he sees his shoes. He seems to be naming everything right now, in that cute little way that is barely intelligible.
We sat down to eat dinner together, after coming home, later. He still had his shoes on at the table, which is a rarity. Suddenly, he pulled his feet up on the table and yelled, “SHITS!!!”
I almost died laughing.
Yes, Braden. Those are your “shoes” and they are on your “feet.”
For the first time, I asked him, “Show me your feet again, Braden!” and picked the camera up off the table to take some pictures.
And that was one smug, happy “shits” on table-havin’ little booger.

At my age I can only dream of putting my shits on the table. Actually I can get them up there, it’s getting them back down again that creates a problem. lol

I used to keep a log of all the funny things my kids said when they were toddlers. They only knew Spanish then, imagine how ‘worse’ they would’ve been if they were bilingual already!
Lovely pictures, and a very funny story!

That’s great! Kinda like when one of the girls in the daycare got mad at one of the other ones and just pointed at her and screamed “fvck, fvck, fvck” over and over again until we could distract her. We have no idea what she was trying to say but we didn’t think it was fvck.

Oh that is freakin’ hilarious, nearly died laughing when I read it.
We had a funny of our own the other day. We have an African lady who comes round twice a week to do floors and windows – freeing me up to do useful things like blogwalking – anyhow, and Skippy just loves to follow her around imitating her as she works. Now of course she has an accent, and I only realised that he was listening to her (and learning apparently) when he repeated her way of saying ‘vacuum’ which sounded more like ‘fah-coom’ (you can see RIGHT where this is headed), and of course he now proudly announces to any visitors or totally random plumbers/electricians that happen to be in the house that ‘there’s a FUCKEM’.
My inlaws recently arrived for a lovely 3 month visit, and the other night he threw a small tantrum in the bath, in which he yelled loudly that I was not to play with the FUCKEM and yadda yadda yadda. The look of my MIL’s face was enough for me to start laughing and have a hard time stopping, until my hubby thoughtfully managed to explain what was going down…

#37 by MaryAnn on September 3, 2008 - 8:22 PM
I put my shits on the table every chance I get, but no one thinks they are cute enough to take a photo of ‘em.
Reminds me of a friend’s nephew who was having a hard time pronouncing the “tr” sound and substituted the “f” sound (see where this is going?). This was not a problem until the day he saw a delightful dump truck toy at Toys R Us and announced to the store at large, “Look at the dumfuck, Mommy!”
P.S. My older son’s shits are now bigger than mine. Eek.

Ha ha ha ha! Cory is into that naming stage now too. He doesn’t know feet yet though so hopefully that combination is a ways off…
And my poor baby got bit today in the playroom at the gym. The other little guy was the same age, what was I supposed to do with that! Thankfully, no blood…
