For the past couple of months, I’ve switched my diet back to a very healthy one, and found it easy to stick to, because it’s filled with foods I love. I’ve even done moderate exercise!
The result has been that I lost 15 lbs and FINALLY made it back to my pre-baby weight! It’s about time, considering that Braden is very, very close to his 2 year birthday.
It’s kind of hard to keep calling it “baby-weight” once your kid can walk, talk, and count.
I’ve been fitting back into clothes I haven’t worn since 2005 and I’ve been feeling pretty darn good about myself. Being back at the weight I was when I got pregnant with Braden feels really good.
And I’m glad I really enjoyed it, for the short time I got to experience it again.
Braden has another chance to be a big brother, it seems!
This past week there have been signs… tenderness, bloating (already? gee.), increased hunger (also already? great.), olfactory sensitivity. A week ago, I knew that Braden, who was on the second floor, had dirtied his diaper. I was on the first floor. Hai, Pregnancy Nose!
This past Friday morning I did the ole’ Pee On A Steek test, and it confirmed that there is a tiny life beginning a journey inside of me. It’s been about 4 weeks since first day of last period (I’m sure you wanted to know)… so the pregnancy is considered to be about 4 weeks along (though conception probably occurred about 2 weeks ago).
I know some of you are wondering why the hell I would tell everyone so early. Especially since Baby Number 2’s journey ended in miscarriage just 5 months ago. The answer is simple: it’s just not in my nature to pretend things are anything other than what they are, or to hide things that are a big deal to me.
I would be lying if I told you I wasn’t scared. Nervous. Apprehensive. A tiny bit freaked out. Periodically on the verge of tears. Gassy as hell. (Well, it’s true. I am one HORRIBLY Gassy Preggie.)
But I am also excited and hopeful. I’m choosing not to let the fear consume me. To that effect, I can’t pretend I’m not pregnant. I can’t not share it with you guys! It would be like saying I’m expecting the worst, instead of believing for the best.
Oh, and yeah, I’m going to put one of those creepy baby widgets on the sidebar again. Because I’m sure it will skeeve a few of you, and that kind of makes me smirk.

By the way, I’m super thrilled to have discovered, on the same day I found out I was pregnant, that this gorgeous woman is pregnant with me and due around the same time! Look for dueling belly updates in the future.

I am so, so, so excited for you. Huge hugs and smooches to you!
I was also the Fart Queen during my pregnancy with Aidan. My husband can usually out-gas me in both quantity and, er, quality (meaning flowers wilt within a 10 foot radius of him) but I reached new heights of stink, especially the farther along I got. My condolences to my labor/delivery nurses… getting an epidural meant I didn’t care when and how much I farted.
But nothing compared to the cloud of gas Aidan produced when we had him on soy formula because we thought he had a milk protein allergy. Defcon 1? Nah. Try ALL OUT NUCLEAR WAR. The first time he pooted a soy poot, I thought I was going to DIE, it was so horrid. And his poop turned BRIGHT GREEN. Yich. He was off soy that same day!

I lost all my baby weight from #2 about 8 mos after he was born and saw a picture of myself in a bathing suit and thought “Dang! I look pretty decent!”. I found out I was pregnant w/#3 LITERALLY 3 days later.

I commented on flickr last night but I thought I’d get more in depth here since you did as well.
That first positive after our miscarriage was scary as hell for me. I was excited, yes! But, yes, I did spend some time in tears. It was just hard. And I did have complications because that’s just what my body does with pregnancies: handles them in the most complicated manner possible.
But that pregnancy resulted in the happiest little boy I have ever known.
And I wish you the same.

I just found out im pregnant too!! After 14 months of trying and being tested for various problems it finally happend! We were set to see a Reproductive Endocrinologist (Fertiltiy guy) on October 6th! It still seems hard to believe but we couldnt be more thrilled. We are due June 10th. When are you due? My husband is in the army and will be leaving for a year in January, i hope he can make it home for the birth of our first little miracle!

YES, gawd, I have to say, I winced when I saw the pee stick and hoped you were going to say that you were three months along and you’d been holding out! But, I TOTALLY understand, “it’s just not in my nature to pretend things are anything other than what they are, or to hide things that are a big deal to me.” AND I can’t not share it with you guys! It would be like saying I’m expecting the worst, instead of believing for the best.”
Good for you. SO happy for you.
Also… I shared a small office with a very gassy pregnant woman when I was a very nauseous pregnant woman and… you can imagine, we were a mess together. hee hee. Somebody in the world is very lucky not to be sharing an office with you right now. =)

Now, I don’t know if you’re a super-huge geek like I am, but there’s a show I got sucked into watching this weekend while I was sick. Body in Numbers on Discovery Health. Its a series of shows, actually, but one episode talked just about the numbers in a person’s life from conception to age 1: the # of feet a sperm has to travel to find the egg, the # of ounces of formula an infant eats in its first two weeks of lie, the # of oz. of urine a fetus creates while in the womb…everything you (n)ever wanted to know.

I read once, which may or may not be something you want to hear, that a baby’s spirit hovers around the mother and the family when the woman is pregnant. If the child doesn’t come to term the little spirit waits for the next baby in the family. It isn’t committed to the body of the growing child until the last few months. This comforts me so much when I hear of miscarriages. It is comforting for me at least to know that the spiri/ soul of the baby wants to be your child and will wait until the time is right to be born.
I hope that this is the right time and I am sending you my best wishes. Thanks for telling us, your bloggy friends. All the love and good wishes should start right away

Congratulations Lotus!!! What fabulous news to come home to after I’ve been away for a few weeks.
As someone who lost a baby before she told anybody she was pregnant, I’m all for telling people as soon as you feel like. It was horrible not really having anyone to share it with. I couldn’t say, “hey, I’m pregnant” because I wasn’t anymore.
And who wants to go “hey, I just lost a baby that I haven’t even told you about yet”.
Anyway, sending you warmest wishes for a happy and safe pregnancy.
