That’s right, you get to see the inside of my uterus. And MAN are you excited. I just know it. Because, really, how damn sexy is that? You’re looking into one of my reproductive organs. RAWR, BABY.
Just what the heck are you looking at? Well, it has to be one of the worst ultrasound pictures I’ve ever seen, but hey, let’s not worry too much about that. It was a “mini-ultrasound,” and frankly, after thinking I was just going to be hearing the heartbeat via fetal doppler, it was quite a treat for us to see Fuzzball live and in person. (Yes, that is now the baby’s official nickname and I think it’s quite obvious why.)
We saw the baby’s heart beating on Monday, friends and loved ones.
And if I even try to tell you how that made me feel… if I try to illustrate for you with words how over the moon I was… how relieved and happy and just so totally on the opposite side of the pain and anguish I was fearing I would experience in a quiet moment of seeing nothing, hearing nothing, and getting the news I was so afraid of… if I tried to explain to you how my heart was so full of thankfulness to be seeing that tiny little musclie organ woosh-wooshing away at 180bpm… if I took the time to stumble around for the right words to do that…
…well, I might just be crying.
And no one needs to see that. Boogers and snot and all that mess.
Fuzzball’s strong and healthy so far, friends. Amen.

I burst into tears and cried for ages after my ultrasound where I saw the heartbeat. It is one of the best things and the most stressful waiting for it. And I didn’t have any particular reason to worry.

Isn’t that heartbeat the best? I’m 10 weeks. We saw the heartbeat a couple of weeks ago. I was worried for all sorts of reasons, but now I’m too sick to worry about any of that. Congrats! It will be fun to read knowing we’re due so close.

I didn’t cry when we heard the heartbeat last week, probably because I was still recovering from passing out and ended up flat on my back in the middle of the blood lab right before the ultrasound. Fun times huh?
Our ultrasound pic was pretty good (it was a dildo ultrasound thingy) but you still can’t tell what the heck you are looking at. Congrats to you on your Fuzzball, we call ours Tater Tot since that is all I am eating these days.

I can completely relate!!! After 3 miscarriages this past year and 2 D&C’s, I finally made it far enough to have a 1st trimester screening done last week. After the doctor did his ultrasound and completed all the measurements, he turned on the doppler and we listened to the baby’s heartbeat for my first time. I couldn’t help myself and started bawling.
I’m starting my 2nd trimester tomorrow and am finally admitting to people that I’m not just fat I’m actually pregnant… and boy does it feel like a weight has lifted from my shoulders.
