This past week has been
very long and so tiring.
There is much to tell.
To make long story
short, please read this post and then
come back and finish.
Okay. Now you know
the heart of the mold problem.
And you are outraged?
Asked to terminate
lease last Friday, but we were
ignored all week long.
We figured that we
will leave here no matter what;
need a place to live.
Well, we’ve been looking
for a house to rent all week,
so we can leave here.
Over and over
we “just missed” getting a house -
“Someone else got it.”
So much FRUSTRATION.
Home, John started falling ill.
So hard to keep going.
Found another one
and looked at it on Wednesday.
We really liked it.
While we were in it
looking around, a woman
walked in to look, too.
Would she beat us to
apply, taking the house off
the market once more?
Like I said it’s been
such a very long week and
my wits were frazzled.
I had crying fests.
We gave written documents
to our manager.
The documents were
strongly worded and we gave
them prints of photos.
Wednesday night I was
just ready to fall asleep.
Awake was too hard.
But I saw that there
are friends here who want to help
us leave this HELLHOLE.
Angie rocks my rack here.
And tells you how you can help
us move away, too.
Victoria, too!
She’s also trying to help
me get Braden out.
And Dawn! She posted
so that people would see the
ways to help us out.
I cried last night and
it was the good kind of cry.
I felt loved by them.
They say it’s darkest
before the dawn, and that means
get ready for good?
I wasn’t ready.
In fact, I was thinking that
the worst would happen.
Today we got news.
Owner will let us out of
lease with no more pay!
I cried, crapped my pants,
and did a dance of joy, all
at the same time. Wow.
Also, guess what else?
Application was approved!
A home to move to!
Now we just have to
cough up the savings to move
and pay for that place.

Yes!!! So glad you’ll be able to get our family out of there. I’ll bet there will be less sickness in the new place, I’ll bet. I’m looking forward to it. If you’re not sick, then you may be more inclined to flash the RACK, and shots of Braden’s butt – on the other hand, I’m looking forward to shots of Braden from the front, given the stylin’ new threads he’s supposed to be wearing.

We’re renters, too. And reading your story makes me grateful for the sweet landlords that I have. They’re in their 70s and some of the nicest people I have ever met in my life. I’m so sorry that your landlord is such a stingy bastard, especially when it has to do with something so important as your family’s health. At the very least, you think he’d care about the damage being done to his investment. Dumb shit. I hope that house gets condemned and he gets ordered to tear it down so he doesn’t make another dime off the place.

Well, I’ll be sleeping better at night knowing that you and Braden (and John, of course) can get out of that unhealthy environment. I watch a lot of home improvement shows on tv and I’ve seen them deal with mold a couple times. It requires replacing walls and floors and being inspected by the “mold inspector.” I think your scuzzy landlord should be paying some of the medical bills! And I hope it costs him so much money to get that house ready to rent again that it hurts him where he lives!

Yay!! You got out the lease. They know that you can fight it and probably get money out of them if they tried to make you pay.

Lotus, if it’s the thought that counts, I have greatly aided your family today. ‘Cause I’ve been thinking about you and all the ways to help. However, getting down to practicalities, I’d love to contribute financially but my medical bills are 2 1/2 times what you owe and that’s AFTER the insurance has paid. I so hope that you can get a house! Screw the security deposit on your moldy villa – it’s worth it to get out with your family’s health. if the landlord wants to be a total asshat, take the pictures and copies of the letters to the local news and brand him a slumlord. be sure to show Braden off with his big blue eyes and winning smile. That’ll shut the landlord up, if it don’t shut him down!

Even though you got out of the lease, you should consider filing a complaint with your state’s attorney general’s office.
This landlord may be required to pay for you to move.
