Oh, Bingo! Take me away…

Do you hear that frying sound?

Yeah. That’s my brain on Motherhood.
I live with this:

10.09.08 My Little Gentleman

And you know? All that cuteness is just too much for me! He’s just so adorable and sweet that it drains all my energy just to be near him!

Oh, can you smell the BS from over there? Sorry about that.

Sure, he’s cute. But the real thing that’s making me tired is this:

09.27.08 Tantrum

In fact, you realize that the only reason kids are cute is so that we don’t leave them on the side of the road when they act like super mega brats, right?

At some point, there has to be some down time for us Moms.

Personally, I’d really love a private resort to offer me a free week at their upscale spa, with pampering and coddling I can only imagine in my dreams.

And pigs will fly out of my butt, too.

So you have to grab your moments of fun and pleasure wherever you can, you know? Maybe you get to close your eyes for awhile while the kid(s) are napping, or you enjoy a glass of adult beverage when they go down for the night.

I like to sneak in moments of Internet silliness when I can throughout the day to keep myself sane. Aside from the writing and photo processing I do, I like to find other amusements online.

There’s a new games portal at Games.com that provides several such amusements. Check it out. They’ve got everything from Solitaire, to Gin Rummy and Poker, to Bingo. I tried out a few that I thought I would like recently.

You can play against others, and they even give you game tips… but I like to avoid being beat down by people better than me keep it simple and play single. ;-)

Now, I’m no Poker fiend, and even though I used to like to play Gin Rummy, that’s too much brain power when I’m really whacked from dealing with the kid.

But Solitaire is a super sweet old favorite of mine. Remember when it was practically the only game you had on your computer? I do!

Game play is really nice, and the module has some good options, like checking for moves and changing the card movement speed. I have to admit I miss the old school option of changing the graphics on the back of the cards. Yes, I am a super dork like that. Because I am super dork, I also liked the sounds the cards made.

Next, I headed over to the Slots Lounge. Like I said, I want simple. ;-) I don’t gamble in real life because I’m too emotional to take chances like that, but this was fun.

Right away, I was welcomed and the screen told me my wallet contained $100. (It’d be nice if that were actually true. I’d take it and run.)

Holy Sound-Effects, Batman! I liked it!

And on the first spin, I won. Ooooh, they know how to hook me.

You can even choose different machines to play! And you don’t even have to drag your nickel bucket around with you! Fabulous.

I did get annoyed by the sound effects after I went on a long losing streak. But the nice thing is that you can turn them off, and then on again when you’re feeling happier.

I had to be careful, because the Slots Lounge was super addictive. I left my butt-print on the virtual slots stool!

When I finally pried myself away from it, I headed for Bingo.

DO NOT LAUGH AT ME – I LIKE BINGO.

And I’m good at it, even when I’m drunk. But that’s another story for another day.

The little old man calling the numbers is ADORABLE! I wanted to snatch him off the screen and give him some applesauce and a put on a fishing show for him. Awwww.

On this one, I did play against other people, and I totally got The Smackdown the first time, so I HAD to keep going.

And um, the second game lasted a long time, and I got The Smackdown again. I started feeling just a little homicidal. Maybe it really is better for me to play single player games? ;-)

I’m pretty sure you’ll find me at Games.com wishing curses at random people I don’t know over Bingo losses the next time the rugrat is asleep. ;-)

Which is to say, I enjoyed it. Or maybe I just like feeling homicidal towards someone other than my kid for a change.

You decide. ;-)

Smashies Organic Apple Sauce

WINNER!

CONGRATULATIONS TO WIREDMONKEY!

:-)

Braden has gone through periods where he refused to eat some foods, and other periods where he ravenously consumed everything – kind of like a human garbage disposal. I much prefer the garbage disposal to the picky eater!

One thing has remained constant, throughout all the eating changes – Braden always jams apple sauce. He LOVES it! We always have a bottle in the pantry, and sometimes I make it from scratch.

Just so we could pack it to go, I started buying the little single serving sizes of apple sauce with the foil tops. There are drawbacks, though. You have to remember to pack a spoon, and if Braden only eats half (rare, but it happens) then I have to throw the rest away if I didn’t remember to bring something to store leftovers in. :-(

SMASHIES To The Rescue!

I was THRILLED when I was offered the opportunity to review Smashies Organic Applesauce. The packaging is a wonderful design idea. There is a lid that can be screwed off and back on if there are leftovers… and the pouch is completely portable and kid friendly. Grab it and throw it in the diaper bag like I did, or backpack, purse, lunch box, whatever!

Of course, package design means nothing if the food product inside is unhealthy or doesn’t taste good, right?

No need to fear. You can rest assured that you kids are getting a healthy treat – Smashies Apple Sauce is Organic and there is NO added sugar and NO High Fructose Corn Syrup!

And the taste? I taste everything that I give Braden… and this stuff is GOOD.  I thought about eating it myself, but that whole, “do the right thing for your kid” mentality kicked in and I gave it to him instead. ;-)

And him?  Well, once he got used to the pouch, it was ON.  He loved it!
