Some things are easier to fix than others.

John doesn’t particularly care for my nose stud/gem, but I really love it.

My Face My Precious
Eyes of Intelligence

On Tuesday morning, I had to take it out for the surgery (D&C).

12.16.08 Had To Remove Nose Stud

By Tuesday night, it was a little difficult to get back in, but not impossible.  It’s there again.

I actually considered just giving it up… leaving it out forever, letting my nose be as empty as I feel.  Because it seems like so much bullshit for me to care if I can put it back in.

The nose gem isn’t what I really want back.

Funny… I was just stuffing that chocolate in my face last night while I sat here with one of your wonderful pads snuggled up to my hooch.

      Love you.<3

  • I can’t really think of anything to say that would even come off as helpful, but the nose stud struggling to go back in and you considering not putting it back in, but doing it anyway, is kind of symbolic. While it’s not as hard to put a nose stud back in, it did happen.

Yeah, so that doesn’t sound at all like it sounded in my head, but hopefully you’ll understand.

    *hugs*

  • I like the nose gem and chocolate but not maxi pads. Those damn things feel like diapers! You should have just strapped on a diaper and photographed yourself. It could have brought some mild enjoyment to the day.

    I am so sorry *hugs*

  • Was going to suggest the chocolate thing too. In fact, anything with sugar would probably do the job. Take your time sugar, things won’t fix themselves over night, but they will, don’t worry about that one.

I got lucky and Dawn sent me a box of chocolate, so I can stuff away.

I know the healing takes time, to be sure. That just means you’ll see me lamenting my sorrows for quite a while. ;-)

  • I’m so sorry. When I lost my baby, I got a necklace with what would have been her birtstone. I like to wear it now and then. It still hurts, but I’m at a point now where it’s a managable pain. Maybe you should get a new stud in December’s birthstone. Sometime it helps to have something tangible.

    • @Mary,

What a great idea – but I think maybe I’ll get 2 stones on a necklace when I tackle this one – One for the baby who was supposed to be born this month, and another for this baby, who was supposed to be born in June.

And just hope I don’t have to add any more gems to it, eh?

Thank you… I have been brainstorming things that John and I can do, and I think this one will be meaningful to me.

You could also get the other side of your nose pierced too. What? You don’t think that would be cute?

        December 17, 2008
        • @stephanie,

LOL John already dislikes the first one… let’s be gentle on him.

Maybe a lip piercing instead? *chuckle*

      • Lotus, hang in there. I don’t think there’s a person in this world (OK, let’s narrow the scope, the thousands that come here everyday) that doesn’t feel for you and John these days.

The stones are a good idea, and no, you won’t have to add any more. I promise.

        Hugs,

    December 17, 2008

  • I’m so sorry, still. And always. I think the birthstone idea is fantastic. I know it’s not the same at all, but when my best friend lost her dad, she planted a tree in his honour in the backyard. She loves it because it’s a living thing she gets to take care of in remembrance of him.

Also, what the heck is a gravatar? And how do I get one?

Walking With Scissorss last blog post..Hmm… Decisions, decisions…

    December 17, 2008
    • @Walking With Scissors,

We are actually planning on planting a tree for each baby we’ve lost now. But we want to wait until we’re not renting anymore, so we don’t have to leave them. That would be too traumatic for me!

And gravatars are awesome! You can get one really easily – just go to http://en.gravatar.com/ and sign up and register the email address you use to comment on blogs. Any blog with them activated will then have your chosen avatar displayed with your comment.

Here, you get my default one, which will change over time. Right now it’s The Mexican in a Santa Hat, because hell, that’s just festive and it makes me smile. ;-)

  • Yep, I get that, maybe differently, but in my own way related to a hideous scar of my childlessness that I maybe could have reduced/erased, but it still wouldn’t make me a mother. I’m still glad you put the nose ring back in, though. You’ll be feeling cheery again, at some point and in your own time, and even if it doesn’t mean you could ever forget and all that, and you may as well be adorning your hotness when you do, right? Sending more hugs, just in case.

    • @Chris,

RAWR! You know, right before I left Brookstone, I went all nutty and died my hair a million odd colors and pierced my nose.

        December 17, 2008

  • Big hugs Lotus. I think purchasing birthstones is a fantaastic idea~I’m going to go out & do that for my son that was stillborn.

I ♥ nose rings! One of my sisters got one a couple years ago & I told Bobby that I wanted to get one~just a SMALL stud. He gave me utter hell about it~he said, “No wife of mine is going to have her nose pierced!” Oh well :( Maybe someday…

Take care of yourself Lotus & give yourself as much time as you need.

Otherwise, every time you thought about it or saw someone else with a nose stud or saw a nose stud at the jewelry store or whatever, you’d be like, “I used to have one of those, until…” It would be just one more constant reminder. I know how you feel right now. HUGS to you.
