Clean the shirts on their backs by putting one on yours.

The putrid piles of
clothing in my house are proof
of this one truth: I

hate doing laundry.
But at least I have the means.
Some out there do not.

The term that is used
is “natural disaster.”
I’m sure the victims

feel anything but
natural picking up the
pieces of their lives.

I have not suffered
severe destruction but
just thinking about

the devastation
after floods, hurricanes, and
twisters, I shudder.

At such desperate
times, I can imagine that
all help is welcome.

Tide is offering
practical help to those who
need it in this way:

You buy a shirt here;
proceeds provide clothes cleaning
service for victims.

So now even if
I am not cleaning my own
family’s clothing…

I can take comfort
in knowing that I’m helping
clean laundry elsewhere. ;-)

The Elves Came Early

They told some of my friends to send me things… they all chose things that would comfort me… how did they know? Now these are good friends…

Like my Cheese, Fruit & Cookies-Giving Friend
12.12.08 When Others Lift You Up
She even put in presents for Braden to keep him distracted.

Or my Coffee-Giving Friend
12.17.08 From My Coffee Angel
Gorgeous Tumbler and Charged Card so I can buy coffee and get free internet access at Starbucks. Me time!
*faints*

Or how about my Beautiful Soaps & Chapsticks-Giving Friend?
12.18.08 From My Beautiful Soaps & Chapsticks Angel
This was so perfect for me… I have a chapstick addiction. Do you know what I mean? Anyone?

And who can overlook my Chocolate & HooHaa Care-Giving Friend?
12.17.08 From My Chocolate and HooHaa Helper Angel
Gotta love a pad with BEWBS drawn on the wrapper. Also? Don’t touch my Russell Stover German Black Forest Truffle or you will draw back a nub.

And then I will rip off your nub and bludgeon you with it.

Yes, it’s that serious.

So, Nub Bludgeoning aside… would you be willing to give me a gift? Do me a favor right now and gift me this Christmas by doing something for someone else.

It’s really easy; all you have to do is click a link.

That’s right. I want you to click a link. Until the end of December, every time you click this link, or load any of the other pages on that website, you help earn ad revenue, 100% of which will be donated to a non-profit charity called “To Write Love on Her Arms.” (You can check the charity out here.  Make a donation, buy a shirt.  I’m going to buy a shirt… I’ll post photos of me in it later, even.)

They are “dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for those struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide.”

So, from a person depressed as she’s ever been this Christmas, please click. Click as many times as you feel moved to click, between now and the end of December 2008.

If you click right now, leave a comment on that post, then come back to me and tell me you did it.  It’s like my Christmas present. But even if you don’t feel like coming back, just click anyway, ok?

Merry Christmas, to all of you. And thank you.

The rest of the story…

This past week has been
very long and so tiring.
There is much to tell.

To make long story
short, please read this post and then
come back and finish.

Okay. Now you know
the heart of the mold problem.
And you are outraged?

Asked to terminate
lease last Friday, but we were
ignored all week long.

We figured that we
will leave here no matter what;
need a place to live.

Well, we’ve been looking
for a house to rent all week,
so we can leave here.

Over and over
we “just missed” getting a house -
“Someone else got it.”

So much FRUSTRATION.
Home, John started falling ill.
So hard to keep going.

Found another one
and looked at it on Wednesday.
We really liked it.

While we were in it
looking around, a woman
walked in to look, too.

Would she beat us to
apply, taking the house off
the market once more?

Like I said it’s been
such a very long week and
my wits were frazzled.

I had crying fests.
We gave written documents
to our manager.

The documents were
strongly worded and we gave
them prints of photos.

Wall of Water Heater Room, 1 Mold, Window, Braden's Bedroom 1 03.08.08 Mold, Water Heater Room, After, 1

Wednesday night I was
just ready to fall asleep.
Awake was too hard.

But I saw that there
are friends here who want to help
us leave this HELLHOLE.

Angie rocks my rack here.
And tells you how you can help
us move away, too.

Victoria, too!
She’s also trying to help
me get Braden out.

Unexpected Amusement

And Dawn! She posted
so that people would see the
ways to help us out.

I cried last night and
it was the good kind of cry.
I felt loved by them.

They say it’s darkest
before the dawn, and that means
get ready for good?

I wasn’t ready.
In fact, I was thinking that
the worst would happen.

Today we got news.
Owner will let us out of
lease with no more pay!

I cried, crapped my pants,
and did a dance of joy, all
at the same time. Wow.

Also, guess what else?
Application was approved!
A home to move to!

Now we just have to
cough up the savings to move
and pay for that place.

If you want to help,
Donate on the sidebar or
do this or do this.

(To paypal donate
leave a comment on the form,
“Use money to move.”)

Thank you so much to
all who have already helped
and supported us.

True friends gather round
when a person is in need.
I am bowled over.

Here’s Your Chance

I’ve been pretty busy this week and I’m seriously behind on my blog reading.  It wasn’t until today that I read this post at Daring Young Mom, and my heart goes out to the victims.

No. More than that.  My heart aches, it seizes up, it trembles.

I can close my eyes and mentally picture my entire home covered in mud.  Everything ruined.  A little blonde haired boy stands in the middle of the room I picture, smeared with mud, looking for his paci.  My lip quivers as I truly empathize with these people.

Please - read the entire post.  If you can, please help.  We beings who live and breathe, work and love on this earth can do nothing better than love one another in a practical way whenever there is opportunity to do so; whenever there is need, and we are capable.  Often we get too rushed, too tied up, to see those opportunities.  Slow down for a minute and look.  Show your Humanity.

PS: If you can’t afford to make a donation, you could always post about this and see if you can send more people to Daring Young Mom to read, learn and help in any way they can.  Locals can get their hands dirty if they are strapped for money.
