I am having a hurt.

I miss this time.

The further we go in, the more painfully aware I am of the no rewind button on my kid.

Totally still need that sticker on my forehead that says “appreciate today.”

(And pie, I really, really need chocolate pie. But that is another story entirely. I think I just cheapened this post? Fuck it. I’m sorry.)

When did THIS happen?

And just who in the hell is responsible?
Cause, I’ll kick a man’s ass over it.

“Baby Jerky” and other miscellaneous body parts I save.

I was so excited when Braden’s little umbilical stump dried up all the way and fell off.  The belly button revealed by that disconnection of tissue was so clean, new and ultra kissable.

11.04.06.11.02am

He seemed unimpressed by the whole ordeal.

Indifferent

And I was left with a weird decision… What the hell am I expected to DO with this little piece of, well… “baby jerky?”

My first thought was that I’m sure people would expect me to throw it away.  My second thought was that I couldn’t bring myself to throw away this little piece of his body that had once connected him physically to me.

And so, almost 2 years later, I still have it.

09.23.08 Baby Jerky

I’ll file it under miscellaneous body parts of his that I’m going to save.

Like the hair from his first haircut back in May 08. ;-)

9.23.08 A Braden Curl

Do you save pieces of your kids?  I’m not really THAT weird, right?

A few of my favorites from GFK:

This Handy Sack tote to store things when out and about with kiddo is so cute it almost makes me cry.

These Safe Sippy Cups have a great design, cute colors, and are BPA free!

And this toy is just all around wonderful simplicity.  My little brother had one just like it growing up, and we adored it.  What’s more fun than pounding away?  Nothing, I tell you.  Nothing.

Today’s Photohunt theme is “Beautiful”

Okay, I have literally thousands of photographs I’ve taken to choose from every time I play this game.
And I have MULTITUDES of photos that I think would qualify for this theme.

And yet, somehow? I can’t bring myself to take it any further than this…

One day old.
10.17.06.5.28pm

3 days old.
10.19.06.12.30pm

Cliched, trite? Maybe. Sappy? You bet your ass. The predictability of it certainly does not belie the truth of the sentiment.

Those first few days of being drunk with love and amazement are unparalleled.
He was so helpless and needy.

So was I.

But he fit into my arms perfectly, and has ever since. A piece of the puzzle that completes me.

And that, my friends, is the most beautiful thing I can think of.

You know you want to nibble him.

Theme for January 5th, 2008: “Delicious”

What could be more delicious to a Mommy than the sweet days gone by? The dwindling memories… stirred by photos…

…of a first-day-on-earth fuzzy face…
10.17.06.5.28pm

…or a shiny, new baby-belly-button?
11.04.06.11.02am

How about a chubby baby cheek…
That Hand

Braden 2.01.07

Warm Smile

…a pair of tiny, delicate fists…
Clean Boy!

…or those little, tender footsies?
Dear God...

Feets

Delicate

His complete, beautiful, amazing innocence.
Something that will last for awhile more, yet.
Delight
Perhaps bitter-sweet, yes. But sweet, none-the-less.That little, tiny baby is now lost among the early memories of his existence… but certainly not forgotten.

I almost weep when I revisit these. He is tender… sweet.

Delicious.
