What green bean?
My family is notorious for taking some pretty weird pictures of one another.
And really, how can it be avoided when there’s always someone (trust me, in this family, it’s a given) doing something completely ridiculous?
This one was taken of me (either by my dad or brother, can’t remember) on a trip to visit my grandmother in upstate NY back in 2005.
It reminds me, actually, of a story about something my best friend and I did when we were four years old.
You know how little girls used to put their hair in braids and put beads and foil at the end? When I was four, my best friend, Arlis, had her hair arranged in that fashion quite often.
One day, while we were playing together outside, we became very curious about the beads and their size and shape relative to that of our nostrils.
You see where this is going, don’t you?
We were very curious if the beads would fit in our nostrils, and if so, how many would fit?
Needless to say, far more beads will fit in your nostrils when you are four years old, if you cram really hard, than your mother can really appreciate when faced with the results.
She made me SWEAR to never put anything else up my nose, and I promised. And I really, really meant it. I wasn’t going to put one.other.thing into my nostrils.
Unfortunately, that peanut a few weeks later was just too much of a challenge.
And I love a good challenge.
