I’m not sure what Photo Editing Software you use, but if it’s Photoshop, you’re in luck. Undomestic Diva did a grrrreat Tutorial on Spot Color (like Braden’s eyes on this week’s WW) over at Photo Bliss.

I’ve been using Photoshop Elements 6 recently, and I figured out that there’s a small difference that makes the exact process need to change a bit. I’m planning on putting together a tutorial based on PSE6 to compliment the PS One.

I don’t know why, but I always notice insects in my surroundings. Perhaps the tomboy from my youth is still deeply ingrained in my personality? But that’s the first thing – you have to be very aware of them to catch the opportunities.

Other than that, I just try really hard to sneak as close as I can without disturbing, and I take LOTS of shots of them so that I’ll be sure to get some good ones.

The better zoom on the new cam helps, but even with the old cam, if you practice enough and try to remain patient (that was my biggest thing to overcome!) you’ll get them.

These are great as usual. Lotus… my friend… do you think you could… would you please… would you school me in how you do the treatment to photos where you make the whole thing black and white, but just make one thing color? Like in “Only The Eyes”?

Thanks! Hey, Megan (aka “Undomestic Diva”) actually recently did a super cool tutorial over at Photo Bliss that explains exactly how to do it in Photoshop!

Now, if you use other editing software, it will be different.

For example, I’ve been using Photoshop Elements 6 recently, and I tried it there, but there’s an option missing in that version compared to the full Photoshop program (mask layers).

So I had to figure out how to do it using PE6 – and I’m going to write up a tutorial that will compliment the other one for people using PE6.

If you like (I don’t know what you use!) I can give you the link whenever that one publishes? (after my lazy ass writes it)
