Weird is another reason I love him.

My child is weird.

He likes to dump out all the toys in this collapsible container and put it on his head. Often, he sits on this zebra when he does it.

He does it with such frequency that I have stopped even putting the toys back into the container. (Choose your battles.)

10.28.08 He Does This All The Time

I love that little weirdo!

What quirky little behaviors endear your little ones to you?

I love those collapsible containers. I’ve got one somewhere. Somewhere………

My son used to put a knitted beanie (wool hat) over a small sauce pan to get the correct hat shape when he pretended to be Grizzly Adams or Daniel Boone.

  • Amy has a basket that she will frequently empty of toys and run around with it on her head.

And she tips the pram upside down and sits in the canopy.

I’m not sure climbing out the windows is endearing though…

  • Mine is 25 now, and I don’t find it endearing when he puts the dishes in the sink, not three steps from the freaking dishwasher, but hey, he was really cute when he was little.

  • My #2 son used to have a Paddington Bear hat (I mean – a hat that looked EXACTLY like the one that Paddington wore – not a hat that said Paddington Bear on it) and he looked so funny – so cute – in it. After a while, it just became ‘him’.

  • so far mine just makes funny faces. i swear she’s half dog sometimes, if you scratch her belly she shakes her foot, and i swear she was chasing rabbits in her sleep. not so much movement just the funny grins she got on her face. of course i was holding her and my shaking body with copious amounts of laughter woke her up. but still.

  • Ashley @ mrs007.net

Clearly he is a genius ahead of his time :) Soooo cute!

My youngest is 13 months old. She has started this new thing that makes me do the turn my head and laugh so she won’t see me laugh at her bad behavior thing. Does that even make sense?

She goes to the places in our house where I have told her “no no”. She will look at me very deliberately and wait for me to say it. And then when I do, she makes an evil little grunt/scream and swats at the air. Or she shakes her head and says “no no” but touches the forbidden item anyway.

I am in so much trouble with her! But I can’t help but laugh because she is so adorable when she does it!

  • the basket thing in not so weird, both my kids do that too. But they will put just about anything on their heads, from hampers, to sand buckets, to tighty whities. I even posted a picture of little J doing just that, but the tighty whities were not enough he had to add reindeer antlers to the ensemble. Thank goodness he uses clean ones.

Ha! Havent commented on here for awhile. Are you 9 weeks now? I am nearly 11. YAY. Our babies will possibly be the same star sign! Wish I could say about funny behaviours, but at the moment the stepson likes to be really cheeky which is not funny at all and the fetus likes to sit there and relax so thats not interesting either.

  • Do you think he’s pretending to be an astronaut flying through space on a zebra-striped rocket? Just a thought.

As you know, we don’t have kiddos yet, but I’m pretty sure they’re going to be WEIRD. I don’t think they’ll have a choice, genetically speaking. If my husband and I do somehow have a somewhat normal child (or adopt one, which is probably more likely), I feel bad for him/her already – having to deal with our weirdness and all. Poor baby…

Kee will take baby wipes after I change his diaper and rub the carpet with them. This is funny only because he sees me clean dog piss so much, it’s the norm to see me bent over rubbing out spots from the floor. Good times!

Michael (4yo, twin A) insists on calling out for everyone to hear, “Excuse me, I tooted.” In a restaurant, at the table, in a store, wherever. I’ve tried to tell him it is good to be polite, and he can tell mommy/daddy quietly, but he really doesn’t need to broadcast it!
