On to today’s post:
Since I’ve been vomiting on you people all of my feelings and states of being for some time now, I really don’t see a reason to stop. So here’s a little update.
I’ve been off The Pill since January 28th. It did not take all that long for me to feel much better. The heavy depression I was feeling before has receeded dramatically, and my libido has resurfaced. In fact, I’m thinking that tonight ‘conditions will be perfect.’ *Ahem* Anyway…
Braden and I have been sick twice this past month. (Just FYI, when your child chokes on vomit, it’s REALLY scary.) Even between colds and now at the end of the second one, I keep finding that a nagging fatigue has been settling on me again. Yesterday, I had horrible sinus pains and headaches.
And I have made a lovely new discovery. Some rather ugly mold is growing in our (rental) home. Could this be contributing to the newfound feelings of malaise? So, something else to deal with. Life remains exciting! We’re still waiting to hear back from the Property Management Folks about the mold, because they don’t like taking care of problems promptly (or at all). It never ends.
Upon reflection, I have decided that I would like to live in a bubble from now on. No, not the John Travolta kind. A real bubble. I want to drift along over the world, in a shiny, soapy, happy bubble.
Rent free.
But I think maybe I need to lose some more weight first.
Wave when you see me float by, mmkay? Just don’t shoot spitballs.

Kat
Reminds me of the first story I published – when I was 8 – about traveling in a bubble. But mine was Hubba Bubba. =)
Hope they fix your mold. That could totally be contributing to your being sick so much. I had that happen in an apt I lived in. I was sick all the time for 6 months, one cold and sinus thing after another. When I was moving, a corner of carpet came up and there was black mold under it. EFFING GROSS!!!!!
If they won’t handle mold, tell them you’re going to go legal on their ass. Maybe reserach landlor/tenant laws in TN, see what you can do… just the threat might put a little fire under their arses? Mold isn’t something to mess around with…

I have watched my child choke on her vomit this week, too, and it is sooooo scary.
I’m feelin ya on that one.

I was on a pill a few summers ago that seriously made me feel crazy. I finally went off it and went back to normal almost immediately.
Yeah, sometimes I want to hide my whole family in a bubble…
Hang in there.

Mold could very well be contributing to your sinus problems and headache. Getting over major colds is also tough, too – your system is already weakened from that.
Hope you’re feeling better soon and get rid of that mold. Grab some vinegar to combat it until the landlord can get there.

Yes to what Lou said about the mold. That’s not a pretty thing.
If you float over by my house, your bubble will freeze and crack, so wait until summer to head up north way, eh? I don’t want you to get hurt.

That mold stuff is VERY DANGEROUS for your child, who will find his way into every nook and cranny in the house. Don’t even half-step. If your Property Management people don’t want to get on the stick, then I’m sure a jingle from the local District Attorney’s Office or the State Consumer Affairs Division (or whatever the equivalent is in TN) will rattle their cage enough to get some action. And, of course, failing that there’s always the power of the press and local news programs on TV. They won’t like adverse publicity, either.

Oy yeah, mold is no good. I’d get moving on that ASAP. Also, it could be the time of year that’s wiping you out. Seasonal depression and whatnot. Take care of yourselves.

Before you attempt to remove the mold, document, document, document. With time stamped pictures, and your blog has all the times you all were sick. Just make a sick category and tag all posts about it.
Tell property management you have documented it.
Ask for action now.
This stuff is nothing to fool with, especially with a youngun.

When we first moved to Mobile, we rented an apartment. Ours had no visible mold, but many others around ours did, thanks to Hurricane Ivan and the year round humidity.
We stayed sick the entire time we lived in that apartment. People who were rarely sick before. We moved into our house, the constant respiratory illnesses stopped. No joke.
Have that mold stuff checked out. Stay on them about it!

I had this male friend….he and his roommate had a mold growing around the bottom of their toilet. This this was gigantic…like…scrunched up washcloth size maybe…it was so revolting. But they considered it a pet and gave it a name….I believe I have repressed that part of this lovely memory. Needless to say, I always made sure to use my very un-moldy bathroom before I went over there. Boys are yucky.

Floating over the world in a bubble sounds just about perfect to me. However, with my luck I’d end up like my granddaughter who came to me the other night because she had bits of bubblegum stuck in her eyelashes. That must have been SOME bubble before it broke all over her face. I’d want to make sure I was IN the bubble, not stuck to it.

Are you sure the fatigue and illness (for you) isn’t that you are already pregnant? Just asking because each time for me I got sick in the first couple of weeks because my immune system weakened to allow for implantation. Just a thought…

that’s when renting sucks. just to give you my .02, which you didn’t ask for, if it does turn out to be mold – turn into bitch from hell and make them fix it! mold can cause all kinds of health issues, especially in kids. although this time of year seems to be filled with all the different kinds of yuckies – so it could just be that too. best of luck with finding out!

Get the mold check by a professional company. There are several forms that can cause serious health problems, up to and including death. Sorry, don’t mean to sound overly dramatic, but it’s true. And if your land-lord does not address it quickly enough it will give you grounds to break the lease and move out (if you want). I studied Epidemiology in college and molds are nasty things. They love dark, wet places….like our lungs. So please, please, please get that checked out.
