Wordless Wednesday #2

Wordless Wednesday

Hurray, Beer!

Hurray, Beer!

Photo taken in July, 2005 / Corning, NY

Back when I was about 15lbs lighter, my hair had a mind of its own, and I still guzzled the sweet, sweet booze. (Haven’t had a drink since February 2007 in support of a recovering alcoholic.)

Ahh, memories.

What were YOU like 2 years ago?

Wanna see more Wordless Wednesdays?

One baby less happy, but I didn’t know it then.

2 years ago, let me think (2 years ago is easy, there were alot of milestones)

2 years ago exactly I was working my very last shift of my job in the kitchen, I was planning my 17th (I got drunk with Mum), it was 10 days before my last period pre-Amy and I was probably 3 weeks off falling pregnant.

November was a BIG month for me.

  6. #6 by Shannon on November 7, 2007 - 4:15 AM

I miss being single and doing what I want when I want but I don’t miss the dating scene AT ALL. Happy WW!

  7. #7 by Secret Agent Mama on November 7, 2007 - 6:00 AM

    I think I love you.

    Corning. Are you from WNY?

  8. #8 by Secret Agent Mama on November 7, 2007 - 6:07 AM

Oh and 2 years ago I was 60lbs lighter, I took Karate 3 times a week, did yoga daily, and my back never hurt. Having babies screws you up for a while! I’ll get back to the waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay I was!

(I hope I’m not scaring you with all the comments. I swear I’m not whacko. Ok, I’m only 1/2 whack.)

  9. #9 by Kara on November 7, 2007 - 6:41 AM

    Love this pic!

2 years ago I was pregnant with my 2nd child and going crazy with my 10 month old.

  10. #10 by Bren on November 7, 2007 - 6:44 AM

Two years ago,I was planning my son’s first birthday party.

    Funny pic!

  11. #11 by Toni on November 7, 2007 - 7:30 AM

2 years ago, I had just stopped BC to try for The Conqueror.

  12. #12 by Karen MEG on November 7, 2007 - 7:43 AM

    LOVE IT!!!
Two years ago, ummm, nursing and wishing and wishing I didn’t have to time moments like your photo.
    Love your blog, BTW.

  13. #13 by Geggie on November 7, 2007 - 7:43 AM

Hmm, 2 years ago I was living in Phoenix and planning our Thanksgiving trip to Hawaii.

  14. #14 by Patois on November 7, 2007 - 7:52 AM

Great photo. Two years ago? Waiting for my husband’s ship (new job) to come in so I could stay home.

  15. #15 by ~Sheryl on November 7, 2007 - 8:01 AM

I love the look on your face!

Let’s see, two years ago we (hubby and I) were just telling everyone that we were expecting. I had given up beer, but was craving it like a mad-woman! Oh and surprisingly I was probably 15 pounds heavier.

Looks like a beer sampler, man-o-man I miss those!

Hmmm… maybe I’ll go to the locale brewery for lunch today….

  16. #16 by Anglophile Football Fanatic on November 7, 2007 - 8:08 AM

    Hooray Beer!

I was about 40 pounds heavier, frustrated with being a slave to kid’s napping schedule, and very friendless post birth.

  17. #17 by Hoto on November 7, 2007 - 8:09 AM

nice shot. the look tells me someone loves beer.

  18. #18 by Victoria on November 7, 2007 - 8:19 AM

Ah, the good ol’ drinking years! Great pic! (Oh, and *Corning*? Love it there!) Two years ago? I was weaning my last kiddo and planning our 10 year anniversary trip to the Virgin (snort) Islands.

    =)

  19. #19 by donna on November 7, 2007 - 8:23 AM

Hmmm… two years ago I had better clothes, since I actually worked out in the world. Trying to get pregnant and riding the infertility roller coaster. So more free but certainly not happier than I am now.

  20. #20 by janet on November 7, 2007 - 8:24 AM

two years ago, i still had four kids living at home (we’re down to two right now) and our food bill was astronomical.

my mortgage payment was also lower :-P

  21. #21 by Sandy (Momisodes) on November 7, 2007 - 8:26 AM

    Great shot!

Two years ago.. my daughter was just a newborn. I was a sleep-deprived, swollen, cow ready to be milked every 3 hours.

  22. #22 by Blue Momma on November 7, 2007 - 8:38 AM

    Hubby loves those beer samplers!

Two years ago I was still working, struggling to balance family with working up to 20 hours a day. I had money but no time to spend it.

Now I have plenty of time and about 2 cents. But I prefer now!

  23. #23 by Bill on November 7, 2007 - 8:44 AM

Hey I think I recognize that Care Bear on your shirt…that’s either .16 BAC Bear or Walk of Shame Bear. Or should I have just gone with the Care Beer joke? You’ve got that kid on xmas morning look…2 years ago? Pretty much where I am today. The more things change, right…?

  24. #24 by Lynn on November 7, 2007 - 8:44 AM

Two years ago in October I had just left the Air Force and was trying to figure out this stay at home mommy thing. Sadly, I’m still trying to figure it out…

  25. #25 by Patti on November 7, 2007 - 8:47 AM

Haha! Great pic! Two years ago … same ol’ place I am now! The more things change … yada yada yada! Happy Wednesday!

  26. #26 by tegdirb92 on November 7, 2007 - 8:55 AM

so much beer and so little time :)

  27. #27 by Suzanne on November 7, 2007 - 9:13 AM

Two years ago, I was sad to have recently lost my mom and sister in law in the space of seven weeks. They both died of lung cancer.

I’d rather be where I am now than back then.

  28. #28 by Ann on November 7, 2007 - 9:18 AM

I love all of your facial expressions, they make me smile. :)

Two years ago…I had just graduated from college, we didn’t yet own our own home, and we were still dealing with the after-effects of Hurricane Katrina (blechh!). I’m enjoying life much more now.

  29. #29 by Hydes Like Us on November 7, 2007 - 9:38 AM

That is a terrific picture. Memories…like the corner of my mind…misty (ok- sorry. I was just reminiscing about beer.)

    -HH

  30. #30 by Who She She on November 7, 2007 - 9:51 AM

Oh, I remember the joy of a full glass of beer (or several) and nowhere else to be. 2 years ago I was 5 months pregnant with my last baby and wondering when the morning sickness would end.

  31. #31 by Sarcastic Mom (aka Lotus) on November 7, 2007 - 10:21 AM

Melanie – you and me both, lady.

Sgazzetti – Hah… as happy as I look in that photo, and as frazzled as I seem now, I’m WAY happier with my Braden than before!

    Onwebcheck – Prost! Thanks!

Yen – I don’t so much miss being single… the SLEEPING… now that’s a different story…. (PS: I was married to John already in that shot.)

Veronica – you are right, BIG November!

Shannon – I avoided the dating scene by dating the same guy from high school and on for 7 years, then meeting John. Ha!

Secret Agent Mama – let’s do it. No, not from WNY. But my grandma lives in Corning. And I hear ya on the life screwing up thing. That kid ages me and keeps me young at the same time….

Kara – I’m looking forward to my next pregnancy!

Bren – aw, the first birthday. Such an emotional time!

Toni – Aw, Yay! That’s what I was doing a few months after this pic was taken! (Picture in July, stopped BC end of Nov)

Karen Meg – haha, gotta love the baby nursing alki timing!

Geggie – Ahhh, HW. I got to go while I was preggers with Braden!

Patois – You can truly say you were waiting for ‘your’ ship to come in!

Sheryl – Yes! Beer sampler! In the middle of the day! HURRAY! Haha… those days are gone now, but the things I do in replacement are even better. :-)

AFF – napping is like a prison sentence!

Hoto – someone loves all the sweet booze. ;-)

    Victoria – Corning is BEAUTIFUL!

Donna – I hear ya. I was a manager representing my company, and now I just wear crap with spit-up stains on it.

Janet – UGH. The word mortgage payment still makes me feel a little vomity.

Momisodes – Ah! The time period when you learn what it’s REALLY like to be a mother!

Blue Momma – being rich in the heart is much better than being rich in the wallet, isn’t it?

Bill – I think it was “Signs of Alcoholism Bear.” And hey, if it’s working, don’t break it, right?

Lynn – if you ever get to the point where you can say, “I’ve figured this mommy thing completely out!”… Don’t tell anyone, because we will probably all kill you with our bare hands.

Patti – what’s good doesn’t need to change, no? Happy Wednesday!

Tegdirb92 – that was difficult to type! Good thing I had coffee already… Too much beer, yes. ;-)

Suzanne – sorry to hear that. Really. Glad you’re in a happier world now.

Ann – thanks! My face likes to be silly. So sorry you had to deal with Katrina. I’m happy that you’re happier now!

    Heidi Hyde – Haha, it’s okay… that’s all I do with beer anymore… reminisce. ;-)

  32. #32 by Sarcastic Mom (aka Lotus) on November 7, 2007 - 10:22 AM

Whosheshe – Yep, the babyless, irresponsible life! It has its charms… but so does mommyhood, right? I’m wondering if I’ll have awful M.S. next time. I had horrible naseau with Braden, but never threw up. The Fates may have it in for me next time? *shudders*

  33. #33 by Kelly on November 7, 2007 - 12:57 PM

Two years ago, I was stumbling around with a new c-section scar and milk dripping everywhere. Oh yeah, and a gorgeous newborn keeping me up 11 hours out of 12.

    Love the photo…

  34. #34 by Kelly on November 7, 2007 - 1:09 PM

2 years ago? Well, We had just moved from Alberta (dinosaur town Drumheller) and were settling in the BC. We were into our 6th year of homeschooling!

  35. #35 by Jenny on November 7, 2007 - 1:13 PM

Wordless Wednesday is suprisingly wordy in the comment section- holy cow, Lo- you are quite popular with the screen-addicts, eh? Two years ago i was 6 months pregnant after 4 miscarriages and I was LOVing every minute.

  36. #36 by Lisa Milton on November 7, 2007 - 1:15 PM

So cute. I don’t think I was having as much fun – working too much, lots of stress. Suddenly, things look mighty rosy. Funny how that works.

  37. #37 by DraMa on November 7, 2007 - 1:27 PM

That picture depicts how I feel about Dr. Pepper, right now. I caved.

Oh and 2 years ago, right now I was up to my ass in a colicky baby and a an 18month old toddler. I was not sleeping at all and basically going completely out of my mind.

  38. #38 by mama_nomad on November 7, 2007 - 1:41 PM

beeeeeeeeeeer, sweeeeeeeeeeet beeeeeeeeeeer! i miss beer. oktoberfest was painful! (i am gestating)

  39. #39 by ~JJ! on November 7, 2007 - 1:56 PM

    HA!!! That picture is classic!!!!

  40. #40 by Suzanne on November 7, 2007 - 2:03 PM

In response to your comment, my two pregnancies were completely different. The end results were two very different boys, too.

PG 1- only one two hour spell of ‘I ate a bad hot dog’ feeling. I was climbing ladders, painting and doing it ALL. My boss had to kick me out to go on maternity leave when I was a week late. Result: colicky baby who had to be held 100% of time awake for 4 months (yay, exersaucer)

PG 2- if it was a chronic issue, it was front and center all 40 weeks. Five inhalers, weekly blood tests, 14 sonograms, perinatologist. Decided fate says I have two kids. Result: Mellow, easy kid. The kind that makes you want more.

  41. #41 by 3carnations on November 7, 2007 - 2:12 PM

Two years ago things were pretty much the same, except my 3 year old was one, and we were still buying cases of diapers at Sams Club.

  42. #42 by Colleen on November 7, 2007 - 2:46 PM

2 years ago… Zoe was just over 4 months old. I think I’ve blocked out all memory of myself then. damn that post pregnancy brain. I recall a lot of sweat pants. And not too many showers.

I miss those beer guzzling days too.

  43. #43 by FXSmom on November 7, 2007 - 2:53 PM

hmmm….I was at my old job so I was poorer. I was still with hubby but he wasn’t my hubby yet. Shoot I didn’t even know he would be my hubby in less than a years time. Boy do I move fast…lol

  44. #44 by David on November 7, 2007 - 3:12 PM

Two years?!? What was I doing two days ago? Corning, NY! Sweet! I used to live in Big Flats many, many years ago.

  45. #45 by Trenches of Mommyhood on November 7, 2007 - 3:20 PM

Ummm…hello?? Where are you FROM? I grew up there!!!! Well, not Corning, but ADDISON.
    Tell me!

  46. #46 by Aimee Greeblemonkey on November 7, 2007 - 3:33 PM

    That is seriously cute.

  47. #47 by Sarcastic Mom (aka Lotus) on November 7, 2007 - 3:44 PM

Kelly – the best sleep deprivation ever, right?

Kelly – homeschooling sounds so intimidating to me.

Jenny – I have no idea what is wrong with all these people. ;-) I’m so glad Ian hung in there for you. *hugs*

Lisa – isn’t it amazing what the passage of time brings?

Drama – that DP is pretty good stuff, eh? Braden was insanely colicky, too. I feel yer pain!

Mama Nomad – yes, I do miss the sweet, sweet booze from time to time. But not as much as I thought I would.

    JJ! – Thanks!

Suzanne – whoa. You’re not making me feel safe. hehe… Braden was way colicky… so, maybe even if I get El-Barforama next time, I’ll get a calmer baby? Here’s hoping.

3carnations – gotta love not having to stock up on Poop Nets anymore!

Colleen – Braden’s just over a year old, and I’m still stanknastynoshowerho. Maybe this blog has something to do with that? Hm.

FXSMom – bend them to your will quickly!

David – I love Corning. It’s so beautiful. My lovely grandma lives there. :-)

Trenches – wish I had grown up in that area – but it was in NC. Just visited my grandmothere there from time to time.

Aimee – I do my best to be as cute as possible. Especially around beverages.

I was coping with returning to work with a 4mth old baby, my husband losing his job and interest rates on our house sky-rocketing. Good times! Much happier now!

    …chasing a 3-year-old and a speed-crawling 9-month-old.

    I wasn’t lighter, but I was faster.

  50. #50 by BlondeMomBlog (Jamie) on November 7, 2007 - 5:00 PM

The fact that you captioned this Hurray, beer! makes me like you even more. ;)

Gosh two years ago Miss A was barely 8 months old, Miss C was “only” 3, I was working totally from home, and my husband had a few less gray hairs!

  51. #51 by dee/otc on November 7, 2007 - 5:46 PM

Psht, two years ago I was in the same boat I am now, just one less passenger on board…then, pregnant with scorching heart burn due in January…now, pregnant times two with scorching heart burn due in January. (we’re O.C.D. conceivers)

Yum, a table of beers. You lucky gal.

  52. #52 by Burgh Baby's Mom on November 7, 2007 - 6:22 PM

Two years ago I was very much so wishing I was doing what you were doing. Instead, I was about 17 (OK, so it was only 7–but I looked 17 months pregnant) months pregnant with a nearly 10-pound baby. I like now much better!

  53. #53 by Beck on November 7, 2007 - 7:31 PM

Monkey was busy getting her first ear infection.

    ah, the good old days…

54 comments? wtf mate, who are you making out with to get all this traffic?

Oh wait, you mean people who aren’t cranking out NaNoWriMyAssOffMo and NaBlowMe still read blogs? Oh.

  56. #56 by Junebug on November 7, 2007 - 9:41 PM

Two years ago was my 30th anniversary and we went on a cruise to Alaska. It was awesome. I will tell you a funny thing about though. I thought a whole lot during and after the trip about what it would be like to fall off the ship into the freezing water and how long it would take to die. Isn’t that a bizarre thing to think about? I read later that a 50 year old could survive 50 minutes in 50 degree water. But that was with a life jacket.

  57. #57 by Serina Hope on November 7, 2007 - 10:28 PM

    ooh I love your shirt!
I think I was much the same 2 years ago, just half crazy from a lack of sleep as my youngest was a newborn.

  60. #60 by something blue on November 8, 2007 - 9:39 AM

Sweet beer happiness. I’m sure you were thinking it’s ok if I drink this one because there’s still 5 more. Then it turned into a drinking song.

    LOVE IT!
Two years ago, I had a 6-month-old baby and a just over 2-year-old who never sat down or stopped talking. I think I am happier today. :-)
